Colour and light

The colour wheel: mixing with paint and with light

With three primary colours you mix the secondary and tertiary colours. Paint mixes differently from light: paint gets darker, light gets lighter.

Years 5-6 of primary school10 to 12 yearsDraft: Not yet checked by an art teacher.

Why

You only have three pots of paint: red, yellow and blue. How do you get green, orange and purple out of them?

The colour wheel is the map of colours. You can see which colours you can mix, which belong together and which clash.

If you know it, you waste less paint and choose colours that work together.
