Colour and light

Warm and cool colours

Red, orange and yellow feel warm; blue, green and purple feel cool. Warm colours seem to come closer, cool and pale colours seem to move back.

Years 5-6 of primary school10 to 12 yearsDraft: Not yet checked by an art teacher.

Why

Why do mountains in the distance look blue, even though they are green or brown when you stand next to them?

Colours have a temperature. Not in degrees, but in the feeling they give: the glow of a campfire or the cold of ice.

With that temperature you can create a mood, and depth too: near and far away.
