Why Schets
Many people think they can't draw. Usually they simply haven't learned to look yet. If you know how line, colour, light and space work, you see more in every picture, in a museum and on a screen, and you dare to have a go yourself.
Always the same blocks, in the same order
Why, See it, Get it, Do it and Make it. Then the pitfalls, where you come across it in real life, a bit of history and a question for the dinner table. Every topic shows what you need to know first and what comes next.
Our own diagrams, real art to go and see
All the drawings in Schets are our own diagrams that explain a principle, not photos of artworks. We name real works, with the museum or church where you can see them. A print is never the same as the work itself. The exercises are tested automatically for thousands of variants.
Who makes Schets
Schets is made by Neal Van de Velde (nealvdv), who also made Draad, Ruit and Spoor. Questions, mistakes or ideas are always welcome.
Calm and private
No ads, no tracking, no compulsory account, no streaks or notifications that make you feel guilty. What you can do is stored only on your own device.
What does Draft mean?
A topic labelled Draft has been written with care, but not yet checked by an art teacher. The label disappears only after that check. If you spot a mistake, let us know.

Schets and Kaft
Schets is part of Kaft, a family of learning apps with its own app for each subject. Part of Schets is free; for the rest we ask a fair price. That keeps Schets free of ads and tracking.
What does Schets cost?
The learning path and the first 3 topics are free. For all of Schets, choose one of these plans:

Where we come from
Schets is made from a Christian conviction: every child is valuable, and the ability to make things and to see beauty is a gift we may use with care. The subject matter itself is ordinary, honest art education.
