Framing and viewpoint: photo and film

How close the camera comes and where it looks from change what you feel. Long shot, medium shot, close-up and extreme close-up; bird's-eye view, eye level and worm's-eye view.

First stage of secondary school12 to 16 yearsDraft: Not yet checked by an art teacher.

Why

Why does the same tower look mighty in one photo and small and lost in another?

Anyone who takes a photo or makes a film chooses two things: how much goes into the frame, and where the camera looks from.

Those choices are never neutral. They steer how big, important or fragile something seems. If you recognise them, you look at images on a screen more consciously.
